Be My Valentine Breakfast

Chadron Primary School recently hosted our “Be My Valentine” breakfast in which students invited one special someone to join them for breakfast.  Our kitchen crew did an amazing job of preparing hundreds of donuts and breakfast items to help make this day special and we want to thank all of our Chadron Primary School staff for making this day possible!  We also want to thank the families and friends who were able to join us for breakfast and provide some delightful one on one time with a child.  We have a special SHOUT OUT to the Chadron Middle School Hope Squad and the Chadron High School Cardinals Committed groups who sent older students to join our littlest cardinals.  It was a fabulous day filled with energy and love, thank you again for all of your support!

Guest Reader Comes to Mrs. Rischling's Kindergarten Classroom

On February 16, 2023, Mrs. K. Rischling's Kindergarten class had a special visitor. Tye Pourier came in and read "Pete the Cat: Rocking in My School Shoes". The students really enjoyed having him read to them! The students colored pictures to give to Tye and his workers at Big Bats as an act of kindness and when students and families stop by Big Bats they can see the pictures proudly displayed. Thanks for all you and the workers do for our community!

Random Acts of Kindess

Students at Chadron Primary have spent the past 2 weeks preparing for Random Acts of Kindness Week.  Each class listened to the story "How Full is Your Bucket? For Kids" by Tom Rath and Mary Reckmeyer during Counseling Connections class with Mrs. Landreth.  We learned the importance of being  "bucket fillers" and showing kindness.  Following the book, students made kind notes for each other.  Over the course of the week, each student and staff member received a kind note from another student in the building.  Along with this, each student made a heart for the Kindness Tree listing a kind act he/she has exhibited.  Our school is full of kind kiddos!

Classroom Assignment of Students

With the end of the year coming quickly, Chadron Primary School is beginning preparations for the fall semester.  As we begin to plan for class assignments it is important to reference the Parent-Student Handbook.  Thank you for reviewing the following portion of the handbook and thank you for your support of our amazing staff and school.

Section 2:   Classroom Assignment of Students

Placement will be made by recommendations from:  the current grade-level teacher, Title 1 teachers (if applicable), resource teachers (if applicable), school counselor, principal, and the upcoming grade-level teacher.  Factors taken into consideration by the principal would include:  student’s academic needs, learning styles, teaching styles, student’s social emotional development and needs, student’s behavior needs, and student’s physical/motor skill development.  Through an analysis of these factors the principal then develops the class lists for the following school year.

The principal will do his/her best to accommodate parental input; however, please understand that a request does not guarantee classroom placement.

Snow Ice Cream

With the recent snowfall, Mrs. Hastings' phonics class made snow ice cream. The students read the recipe together and searched it for words that followed the phonics rules they had studied. Then they mixed up and ate ice cream. Finally, they wrote about their experience. When life brings you snow, make ice cream!!
