Mrs. Rischling's Kindergarten Culture Project

On Friday, December 15, Mrs. Rischling’s kindergarten class had a special guest, Patty Pourier, come in and share about Native American culture. She taught the students how to count, say thank you, and grandma in Lakota. The students also learned the friendship dance. Each student got to try on a beaded vest and learned how the Lakota beaded the designs.

Following their guest, the students shared about their own cultures. The students shared information about their culture and some even brought food to share with the class. The students had so much fun learning about different cultures and trying foods from these cultures.

Mrs. Sandstrom's Class Connects with Farm Bureau Pen Pal Leo

In September, Mrs. Sandstrom’s 2nd grade class was matched with an Ag Pen Pal through the Nebraska Farm Bureau Foundation. We were lucky enough to be matched with local farmer and rancher, Leo Vander May. Since September we have exchanged several letters and video messages with Leo. On Thursday, with the help of his daughter Annabelle, Leo came for a visit. With him he brought a cow named Dream, a calf named Lola, and a friendly rooster that goes by “Colonel Sanders.” We were also able to meet and love on his trusty sidekick, Jane. The kids learned so much from Leo and had a great time. Our class looks forward to more letters, messages and visits from Leo throughout the year!!

Cardinals of the Month ~ November

This week we were able to once again celebrate some AMAZING Cardinals.  These students were chosen by their teachers as Cardinals of the Month for November.  The students have been following the Cardinal Way and setting such great examples in their classrooms and the Primary Building.  We always enjoy the opportunity to celebrate awesome achievements and especially have a special breakfast!  Way to go Cardinals, keep up the good work!
