Ms. Jackson's Class Enjoys a Pizza Hut Field Trip

Friday December 3rd was a day full of fun, learning, & laughter for Ms. Jackson's Kindergarten Class.  The field trip started with a ride on the bus down to the local Pizza Hut store.  While at the store, Ms. Carly showed the students around the restaurant.  This included a variety of different things such as showing the students how orders are placed, showing students where they keep the ingredients used to make the pizzas, the prep stations, where the pizzas are cooked, along with how and where they wash dishes.  To end the day, the students had the opportunity to make their own pizzas and it was a big hit! šŸ• This day was one the students will never forget! Thank you to Joe, Carly, & the Pizza Hut crew for welcoming us into the store! šŸ˜Š

Chadron Public Schools Digital Citizenship Program

Chadron Primary Announcement

With our winter weather approaching, please make sure you are sending your children with all of their cold weather gear (including coats, hats, gloves, snow pants, and boots).  In order to play in the snow, students need all of this gear, otherwise they can play on the cleaned off equipment or where the snow has been cleared.  We also know that our traffic gets more backed up with snow packed and icy roads so please plan accordingly.  There will be times when our ramp needs to be closed due to icy conditions so parking will need to be on Ann, 7th, or 8th streets and students may walk up the sidewalks.

We also want to remind families that our breakfast time is from 7:50-8:10 a.m.  If students arrive after 8:10 a.m. they will need to have breakfast at home.  Thank you for your support and help in keeping our kiddos warm and fed!  With a winter forecast on the way, please make sure you are signed up for the Chadron Primary School Remind Notice!  Please text the message @priparents to the number 81010 in order to sign up and receive important notices about our school and district.

LšŸ‘€K Who Came Back to Visit Chadron Primary School!

Chadron Primary School has once again welcomed a yearly visitor; Seymour Goodthings has returned for another year.  Seymour continues to surprise us with hiding spots where he watches students follow the Cardinal Way.  Seymour has been quite impressed with students who have been making good decisions and he has been a fun addition to our building.  Seymour and the entire Chadron Primary School staff hope this message finds you well and we hope you have a Happy Holiday Season!

November ~ Cardinals of the Month

Principal Mack was excited to host another Cardinal of the Month Breakfast for students at Chadron Primary School.  These students who were chosen by their classroom teachers were able to gather and celebrate with a special breakfast in the gym.  These students go above and beyond following the Cardinal Way and set wonderful examples for other classmates.  We are so proud of the kind, caring citizens you all are, keep up the GREAT work!

KSB Law Digital Citizenship Presentation for Students and Parents

 From CPS Superintendent, Ginger Meyer

Chadron Public Schools is pleased to offer Digital Citizenship to students and parents. On December 15, 2021, Karen Haase from KSB Law Firm will present the ins and outs of digital citizenship. There will be a session for Middle School and High School during the school day. We will also have a parent session. Do you want to know about the Apps and Social Media that your kids are using? Do you want to know about laws that govern social media use? Do you want to know how schools respond to these problems? We warn kids about the problems that crop up, but we cannot stress enough how technology keeps changing.

Karen Haase has a background as an educator. She and her firm are cutting edge in the practices of school law. KSB believes passionately that schools should use technology to increase engagement and student achievement. As a result, we work tirelessly to be a leading authority at how digital citizenship intersects with education. Sadly, all too often we see the negative side of digital communication when students, as well as adults, misuse technology. A digital citizen is a person who utilizes information technology in order to engage in society, politics, and government and who uses the internet regularly and effectively.

Parent Session will be held in the Auditorium at 5:15 on December 15, 2021.

Mrs. Dunbar's Class Enjoys a Pizza Hut Field Trip

Monday, November 29th was a great day for Mrs. Dunbar’s kindergarten class. Their first field trip began with their first bus ride, where they got to sing “The Wheels on the Bus” on a bus going through the town!  The bus took them to Pizza Hut where Mr. Joe shared with them all the ins and outs of the restaurant.  He showed them what happens when an order is placed, where all the cold items are stored, how to prep the dough, wash the dishes, where all the items are stored for making the pizza and where the pizza is cooked.  The best part was making their own pizza and then eating it!  It was a wonderful two hours and made for a very memorable day!

Standard Response Protocol Review

Chadron Primary School would like to share the safety protocols we have in place and review those with families.  We work with the Nebraska Department of Education safety and security teams and receive resources from the i love u guys foundation.  You may have noticed over the past year the Standard Response Protocol has been updated (one of the most outstanding updates is from the term "Lockout" to "Secure").  "Lockout" and "Lockdown" were so similar and confusing the organization updated to "Secure".  Please note the Secure portion of the protocol and how it differs from a Lockdown ~ in a Secure the threat is outside the building, on a Lockdown, the threat is inside the building.  Our safety protocols and wording are as follows:

Chadron Primary School ~ Remind Notices

Thank you all for the patience and understanding you had during yesterday's "potential threat in the community". I was extremely proud of how quickly our staff reacted to the "Secure" that was in place and the calm nature that kept our students safe and well cared for. We appreciate all of the communication that came from Chadron Police Department in order for Chadron Public Schools to make decisions quickly and carefully. In incidents such as this, our main mode of communication is our Remind text messaging; if you are not signed up for Remind, please review the attachment included to sign up for our Remind notices. Thank you again for the feedback and patience; our staff continues to work on ways to keep students safe, keep communication open, and work with families to ensure the safe delivery of students to families. ~ Principal Mack
