Welcome Back to School

Chadron Primary School Staff is excited to welcome everyone to the 2019-2020 school year.  As we enter the new school year we would like to review a few reminders about the Primary Building.

School begins at 8:00 a.m and dismissal is 3:15 p.m.  Please watch the calendar, blog, and remind messages for 1:30 p.m. dismissals.  The first three days of school will dismiss at 1:30 p.m. and students need to be picked up promptly as our staff has meetings and trainings to attend.  Supervision on the playground begins at 7:50 a.m. and following school until 3:30 p.m.  We ask you do not drop students off without supervision until 7:50 a.m. and upon dismissal, please do not allow your students to play on the playground equipment until after 3:30 p.m. for the safety of those students dismissing.

During drop off and pick up times please understand the concept of STOP - DROP and ROLL (stop the vehicle completely without parking or exiting the vehicle yourself), (drop your student off with a quick kiss, hug, and positive encouragement for the day), and (roll on down the road to begin your glorious day).  With over 200 students, traffic becomes quite congested and the ramp in front of the building is NOT for parking during these times.  Please also be respectful of the back parking lots (East side) of the Primary and Middle school buildings - these are for STAFF PARKING ONLY - not areas to drop off or pick up students, we have also designated this as a safe area for students to walk between the Primary, Middle, and High School buildings!!!  Parking is available along Shelton St., Ann St., and 7th St. and the police department will be monitoring the area to keep our students safe.  Thank you for being respectful of the procedures put in place to help keep students safe and traffic flowing.

We would also like to remind everyone that your student must be registered for the upcoming school year PRIOR to the first date of school (August 14th).  For our returning first and second grade students, that should not involve any registration paperwork; however, for new students (grades K, 1, and 2), please make sure the registration packet, including any immunizations, physicals, and vision exams are completed and documentation given to Tricia Berry at the High School (432-0707).  Unfortunately, if your student is missing any of the required paperwork he/she will NOT be allowed to attend until the necessary paperwork has been received by the district.  Any questions on registration can be directed to Tricia (School Registrar) or Chrissy (Secretary) at the Primary Building (432-0710).  Any further information about requirements can be found in the Student/Parent Handbook located on the District web page www.chadronschools.org.

Following are some dates and times you will want to mark on your calendar and the school supplies list can be found on the right column of this blog post.  We look forward to seeing you all!!
